Baldock Museum Displays
Permanent exhibition on the history of Baldock from Roman times to the present.
The current temporary display is “Baldock in Middle Ages”: The story of the foundation of the new borough of Baldock by the Knights Templar and the reasons for its subsequent prosperity in the following two centuries. The display also covers:
- the court of Baldock and its jurisdiction
- the town’s merchants and their part in the wool export trade
- the Black Death and its effect on the town
- the Gild of the Name of Jesus, the leper hospital and the church
This display will be open at the usual opening times from Wednesday, 1st March 2017 and ends on Wednesday, 10th May 2017.
The next scheduled display is “The Motor Trade in Baldock (1910 – 1950); Garages, Cars and the Open Road in the Heyday of Motoring”. This will run from Saturday 13th May 2017, 10am – 4pm and at the usual times thereafter.
